THIS SHELF'S DESIGN ORIGINATED FROM THE CHALLENGE OF having natural light from only 1 wall of a large room. It needed to SEPARATe SPACE WHILE STILL ALLOWING LIGHT TO PASS THROUGH.
PART OF THE INtERIOR OF THIRDSPACE, THE "BEAM" SHELF IS LOCATED IN THE HEART OF BUSHWICK BROOKLYN, WITH IT'S NEIGHBORS BEING METAL SHOPS AND JUNKYARDS. THE ALUMINUM I-BEAMS AND SCAFfOLDINg BOARDS WERE LITERALLY SOURCED AROUND THE CORNER.
THE SHELF ACTS AS A DIVIDER PERPEnDICULAR to the wall IN THE SPACE, BUT IT CAN BE PLACED ALONG THE WALl as well.
